& Communications
Amanda leads Step One’s public engagement and communications strategy. Her creative and strategic approach ensures that our mission reaches a wider audience, making a positive impact on our community.

Edward Foreman
Head of Operations
Ed oversees the operational aspects of Step One Charity, ensuring the smooth delivery of our services.

Caroline Muggridge
Head of Finance and Infrastructure
Caroline takes on the important role of providing strategic direction, leadership, and management oversight to all finance functions within the charity.

Sue became Chair in 2018, bringing leadership, governance and management experience from her role in the NHS, and higher education and charitable sectors.
Paul was appointed as a Trustee of Step One in July 2019. Paul is currently working (part-time) as Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for Devon Partnership NHS Trust. Paul has worked in the NHS for the past 40 years.
Robert was appointed as trustee in September 2018. Rob is the current Chief Executive of the Royal Lifesaving Society and has previously worked as the Chief Executive Officer at the children’s charity, CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids), and Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union..

David Hawes
Trustee
Dave was appointed as a Trustee for Step One in 2021. He joined the Devon Air Ambulance Trust as the Director of Finance and Infrastructure in 2014. Dave is currently an integral part of the governance structure as part of the executive leadership team for the Charity.

Mark Lambert

Mark currently works in communications for UK Research and Innovation, the national funding agency investing in science and research in the UK. Mark is passionate about promoting healthcare and advocating for everyone to speak freely about their mental health.

Charles Pallot

Charles joined us as a trustee in December 2021. He was born in Jersey and moved to the UK in 1988.
Charles is an Employment Law Partner at Ashfords LLP in their Exeter office. He joined Ashfords in 1989

Kay O'Shaugnessy

Mark has been our trustee since 2014. Since 2003 he has undertaken a number of consultancies and investigative assignments for the NHS and has been Vice Chair of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), a Governor of Plymouth University and Chair of the Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
Robert has been our trustee since May 2017. He is currently a director of a business advisory and management consultancy firm. Robert has over 25 years’ management consulting experience focusing on business transformation and organisational change.
Kay was appointed as a Trustee for Step One Charity in 2022. In 2002, Kay founded Friends and Families Charity, and over the past 20 years, she has been involved in campaigning, developing and shaping both national and local strategy and provision for families with disabled children and young people.
