Our new name
We are delighted to announce that our name is Step One.
This comes after St Loye’s Foundation and Community Care Trust (CCT) merged in 2015 to create a diverse team that has helped 2,386 people move forward positively with their lives in the past year. Rebranding with a new name helps reflect everything we do and allows us to be recognised as one charity.
Eilis Rainsford, Chief Executive of Step One, said: “Adopting one name represents a desire by staff and the management team to be considered a united entity. Working under two names was not only impractical and confusing for those interacting with our services, but also an unnecessary barrier for staff across both organisations.
“Since the merger, St Loyes and CCT have been working together to look at common language, shared values, vision and culture. One phrase that kept being repeated surrounded taking first steps and after a consultation period, we selected ‘Step One’ as our new name because we felt this had really positive connotations concerning people taking back control and starting their journey towards fulfilling their potential.”
Our head office remains in Exeter’s city centre, with residential and community based services, a Crisis House and a mental health hospital located in Torbay. We work across the South West and North West of England and South Wales, with our services commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions, South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group, Devon Partnership NHS Trust, and local authorities.
Our services can be accessed through a referral by the local authority, Job Centre Plus, mental health care co-ordinator or GP. For more information, please get in contact.
