Sarah Brennan - Trustee

Sarah is known for her work as CEO of YoungMinds, where she influenced the Government; the NHS; Education; funders and the general public to recognise and respond to the crisis in young people’s mental health.

This role made use of the culmination of over 30 years’ experience working in the voluntary sector fighting for social justice for vulnerable, young people.

From being a youth worker in South London where she developed services for young women, Sarah’s career progressed to become the Director of Services at CenterPoint where she supported homeless young people. In the 1990’s she was part of the Rough Sleepers Initiative and witnessed firsthand the causes and impact of homelessness on young people. Later, as CEO of Motiv8, her work supported young offenders.

Sarah is now a freelance consultant and uses her knowledge of organisational management, growth and development, along with her experience of the voluntary sector and services for vulnerable young people to support organisations and services develop, in particular young people’s mental health services. She has extensive experience of charity governance, and is a qualified coach and counsellor. Sarah is currently Chair of the Carer’s Trust Young Adult Carer’s Mental Health Steering Group and is a member of Children In Need’s ‘A Million and Me’ Advisory Committee, and mental health provision in schools service development. Sarah has also recently published a chapter in “Innovation and Change in Non-Profit Organisations”.
