Run The Great West Run for Step One

We are looking for volunteers to run for us as part of Exeter's Great West Run Half Marathon that takes an exciting 13.1 mile route through the heart of Exeter. This route has it all; a journey through the city centre, followed by pretty country lanes, stunning views, and a fantastic stadium finish.

The event will take place on the 22nd of May 2022 at 9am.

What we need from you:

  • A commitment to raise £250.
  • A £50 deposit which can go towards your sponsorship minimum to run for Step One, or it will be refunded to you after the event if you raise above the minimum.

10km Route Info

If the half-marathon isn’t for you then the brand new 10km route also takes you through the heart of Exeter. Following the first and final 3 miles of the half marathon, the route will be well supported and the atmosphere will be incredible. Whether it is your first or one of many – this is the run for you.

Route for Great West Run

DRINK STATION 1 – Pinhoe Road (by St Marks Church outward)

DRINK STATION 2 – Cowley Bridge Road (by Steiner Academy outward)

DRINK STATION 3 – Stoke Road (by Pennsylvania Road on return)

DRINK STATION 4 & HIGH 5 ENERGY GELS – Cowley Bridge Road (by Steiner Academy on return)

DRINK STATION 5 – Prince of Wales Road (by Devon and Exeter Squash Club)

DRINK STATION 6 – Pinhoe Road (by St Marks Church on return)

CUT OFF POINT: Runners must reach the 4 mile point within 1hr 10mins of the race starting to be able to do the full 13.1 mile route. Any participant after this time will be redirected right along Cowley Bridge Road to follow the remainder of the race route as a pedestrian using footpaths. The organisers will have to enforce this cut off time due to them needing to adhere to a strict road closure reopening schedule.

*You must be 17 years old or older to take part in this event.
