Time To Talk Day 2022!

Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Taking place on Thursday 3rd February 2022, it’s the day that friends, families, communities, and workplaces come together to talk, listen, and change lives.

Time to Talk Day 2022 is run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness in England, in partnership with Co-op. The campaign runs UK wide, with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) and See Me in Scotland, Inspire and Change Your Mind in Northern Ireland and Time to Change Wales.

We know that conversations about mental health have the power to change lives as recent research shows how important open conversations in communities are to support everyone’s mental wellbeing.

Co-op are raising £8m for Mind, SAMH and Inspire to bring communities together to improve mental wellbeing. Along with delivering Time to Talk Day 2022, these vital funds are providing new services in over 50 local communities across the UK to support people’s mental wellbeing. Why is talking important?

One in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year.

Research has also shown that rates of probable mental disorders in children and young people have increased since 2017; in 6 to 16 year olds from one one in nine (11.6%) to one in six (17.4%), and in 17 to 19 year olds from one in ten (10.1%) to one in six (17.4%).

We want everyone to feel comfortable talking about mental health – whenever they like. Talking about mental health reduces stigma, helping to create supportive communities where we can talk openly about mental health and feel empowered to seek help when we need it.

That’s why opening up the conversation about mental health problems is so important – by talking about it we can support ourselves and others.

However you do it, have a conversation about mental health today.
